Paper Industry asks consumers to make eco-friendly choices

To celebrate the Independence Day fervor in the month of August, ambassadors from Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA) reached out to people in the capital with the message of using paper and enjoying their freedom to choose green.

“True freedom lies in the choices we exercise. Paper has come to provide an effective and eco-friendly alternative and can help users make a green choice”, said Rohit Pandit, Secretary General IPMA.

According to IPMA, the complexion of Paper Industry has changed over the years. Today the industry is far more innovative and able to provide a wide variety of products and solutions which find application in e-commerce, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, food packaging etc.

Incorporation of new technologies have ensured that the paper being produced today is far more superior and customized to meet the specific demands of  retail and institutional customers who wish to make an eco-friendly choice.

Currently, agro forestry initiative of Paper Industry spreads across approx. 9,00,000 hectares. Extensive R&D has been undertaken by Paper Industry to produce disease and drought resistant trees which can be grown in different agro climatic conditions. About 5 lakh farmers are productively employed in this agro forestry initiative.

Agro forestry by Paper Industry is enhancing the country’s green cover and mitigating the harmful effects of climate change, states IPMA.
