Presentation made to Commerce & Industry Minister

An IPMA Delegation comprising of Past Presidents Mr. Harsh Pati Singhania, Mr. Madhukar Mishra, and Mr. Yogesh Agarwal, Vice President Mr. Saurabh Bangur, Chairman Commercial & Taxation Sub-Committee Mr. A S Mehta, and Secretary General, met Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry (I/C), Government of India, on 29th June 2015 at Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi.

A detailed presentation was made to the Hon’ble Minister on ‘Interventions Needed for Long Term Sustainability of Paper Industry in India’, highlighting the present precarious status and outlook of the industry, increasing raw material cost, threat from escalating imports, and the government interventions needed to safeguard the health and financial viability of the Indian Pulp & Paper Industry.

The Hon’ble Minister kindly agreed to look into the various issues highlighted, and also take up with other concerned Ministries issues relating to them.
