Interactive Session with Stakeholders to Enhance Global Competitiveness
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, organized an Interactive Session with Stakeholders to Enhance Global Competitiveness of Indian Industry on 28th October 2019 at Hotel The Ashok, New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Mr. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry. Mr. Hardeep Puri, Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry; Mr. Shailendra Singh, Additional Secretary, DPIIT; and other senior officials from the Ministry were also present.
IPMA was represented at the meeting by Mr. A S Mehta, President, and Secretary-General. President, in his remarks, highlighted the raw material challenges faced by the Paper Industry, the need for a conducive plantation policy, escalating imports especially under the FTAs, etc. A brief note on the challenges faced by India’s Paper Industry and recommended policy interventions and a list of Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) faced by India’s Paper Industry while exporting to RCEP countries was also submitted.
