A Working Group on Pulp and Paper sector was constituted by Planning Commission for the task of reviewing the progress made by the industry in the previous plan period (2007-2012) and for suggesting suitable interventions to accelerate the growth of the sector during the 12^thPlan (2012-2017). The deliberations of the Group have shown that the expected increase in demand for paper in the country will require a considerable increase in the indigenous production base of the paper sector in the next fifteen years.
